Biography

Jack Goodman was born September 9, 1973, in Aurora, Mo. He was raised in Pierce City and now lives in Mt. Vernon with his wife, Laura, and their sons, Jack Elliott Goodman and William True Goodman.

Jack, a Republican, represents the counties of Barry, Lawrence, McDonald, Ozark, Stone and Taney in the Missouri Senate. He was elected to the Senate in November 2005, and reelected in 2008. Jack was elected to serve as the Assistant Majority Leader of the Missouri Senate in 2007 and was reelected to that post in 2008 for the 2009 -- 2010 sessions.

In addition to his legislative duties, Jack is an attorney. He was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 2002 and 2004. In his second House term, he served as the Assistant Majority Leader. He also served as an assistant prosecuting attorney from 1997-2002.

Jack and his family are active members of Trinity Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod) in Freistatt, Mo.

Jack served as Chairman of the 7th U.S. Congressional District Republican Committee and is presently on the Government Relations Committee of the American Lung Association of Missouri. A charter member of the Mt. Vernon Kiwanis Club, Jack served several terms on the board of directors. He is also past president of the 39th Judicial Circuit Bar Association; and member of the Mt. Vernon Rotary Club; Lawrence County Farm Bureau; Southwest Missouri Cattleman’s Association; Decatur Lodge #400 in Pierce City; two-term past president of Lawrence County Pachyderm Club and served on the Pachyderm state board of directors. Jack is also a member of several local Chambers of Commerce.

Jack has been honored with the Award for Excellence in the Study of Local Government. He has been honored with the Legislative Leadership Award by the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives and the Spirit of Enterprise Award by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and the Friend of Agriculture Award by the Missouri Farm Bureau. He has also received numerous awards for legislative and community service.

A 1991 graduate of Pierce City High School, Jack earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1995 and his juris doctor degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 1998.
